This is directed towards owners who have a motorcycle or fourwheeler that they haul in the bed of their truck.
I'm looking for a good quality (preferrably metal) ramp so I can get my motorcycle into the bed of the truck. Any thoughts as to where I can find one for a fair price? I'd look myself, but I figured I'd ask you guys/gals first...
I was using a 6"x2"x12' board with and a ramp end...and someone (pointing at myself) left the thing outside for the past 4 months or so and it's terribly wrapped and probably rotted.
did you lift your truck? we're using a set of ramps bought from northentool http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...9311_200309311 theyre working great a little heavy but with only 1 person getting a bike into the back of our 350 seems so much easier. and the rampa re holding up very nicely.
or you could go to a motorcycle shop and pick up one of the ramps they sell there.. a bit pricy though.
Check out Cabelas. They have a set of alum ramps that fold and are arched so you can get garden tractors with mower decks into the truck without bottoming out. They are light weight and will support a four wheeler no problem. Have a set and love them.
I have a Diamondback cover on my bed and I have two of their 12 foot ramps to drive my ATV up on top of the cover. Each ramp is composed of two 6 foot sections that are bolted together so each 12 foot piece can fold into a 6 foot section so I can stow them flat in my short bed and have the tailgate close.
Each ramp is built from aluminum and are severely overbuilt. The price to purchase the ramps equals their robustness.
I got my two-piece tri-fold ramps at Wal-Mart for under $100.00. That worked great for getting my motorcycle in the back of my truck. If it's a motorcycle, you'll need to make sure you get the ones that curve slightly (as opposed to the straight ones) or you'll likely drag the bottom of the bike coming over the tailgate.
I've used this since 1999. but only for atv's and dirtbikes .... I have no experience using them for street bikes. Works great for me ... well built. Cabelas also has a shorter version.
I bought a set of ramps from Northern Tool about a year ago. They are the standard 6.5' long steel ramps on sale for $40/pair. Couldn't pass that up. Works great for loading my ATV into my truck...even though it is a little steep. But they lay perfectly flat under the ATV and fit my shortbed just perfect!
