tranny mount

have any of you guys replaced yours? I need one and it is turning out to be a tough find. Ford doesn't sell them anymore. local auto parts- nothing. I went online and see a few companies that sell the same thing...a mount made by 'westin'. which would be fine. the only problem is that the part # for my truck is the same for 5.0L, 5.8L, etc...just find it hard to believe that it's the same thing. any suggestions/ experience are welcome.
TIA,
Charlie

Nah, when my grandfather owned the local Ford garage I used to look up parts for people.

The parts had a prefix like F3TZ as a number just out of my head.
Back in the day I could tell you what vehicle line, decade and year of production and another fact from that number.
Been so long I can't even remember what all the digits stood for.

Then there was the base number and a suffix.

Many times if the base number and suffix were the same, the parts were the same.
But looking it up in the books you would never figure that out.

Yes that was back in the days way before computers, which now make it so easy to see what all else the same part fits.

Computers sure have reduced the amount of inventory a parts house has to carry while increasing the chances they have a part to fit your vehicle.

One thing that comes to mind is the rear spring hanger on the F series.
Same bracket fits from the early 80's to the late 90's F150 F250 and F 350 trucks.
Looking at the books, you would never know the bracket from an 84 F150 was the same bracket that a 95 F350 used, so you would have two in stock.
Then when someone came in looking for the bracket for an 89 F250, you would have to order it even though you had two on the shelves that were the same bracket.

The example above is just a part I know is the same, my years of looking up parts was in the late 60's and very early 70's.

Computers also increase the chance the part will be wrong.
