exhaust choices

what are you guys running for exhaust, i'm looking for true duals at around 2-1/4in.

i've seen duff's, and JC whitney has one, anyone use 'em, comments?

bad experience with exhaust shops in my area, and i don't have a bender, so kind of looking for a kit to just clamp or weld together

i've been trying to find a oe exhaust pipe at the local parts store that would fit the bends in the right places, but no luck yet.

Used to have the JC Whitney side pipe system that attached to the old manifolds. It was a basic (cheesy) system, but it worked.

Since I purchased Hooker Competition Headers I used their system for my new engine. The also make one for manifolds.

I used the front dwon pipes, but wanted to mount the mufflers closer to the center of my rig, so I got a place to bed up a set of custom tail pipes. The tailpipes would have worked, and they exit aft of the rear tires facing the lower quarters.

The left side downpipe was not going to work with my raduis arm drop brackets and I don't know if it would have even worked. I had to heat it with a torch and bend it into position and peen a dent in the side to clear the radius arm bracket.

Hookers system was relatively cheap, it is mandrel bent, but it is mild steel not aluminized.

I would say for the money and they fact it works with headers it was a good system.

James Duff and BC Broncos also make complete systems including headers. I have no experience with either system, but I will say that I have never got a bad part from either place.

The Hooker headers were a perfect fit, both painted and then the coated I run after break in, so I would recoment them. Plus where they end is great for access if you need to drop the exhaust to work on the transmission, or deal with the starter.

If you have a welder and some extra time, I would try to buy and 87-93 mustang off road H-pipe and see if you could make that work, because the bends look like they would work for under a Bronco.

Plus you can also use the walker band clamps and cut the header collector flanges off and change them to ball and socket.

That might be a round about way of telling you I don't know of a direct bolt-in system, but I hope the infor was useful.

i was thinking about going with hedman headers from jegs. they have the ball and socket too. same brand and style i bought for my 76 crew. i like it cause #1 no gasket, and #2 the connecting pipe doesn't have to bolt straight on, so the initial pipe can be bolted on slightly cocked to clear transfer case, whatever.

i did headers to straight pipe to muffler then kick out in front of rear wheels on the crewcab, but damn the resonance in the cab is ridiculous, and i know i lost some torque.

the exhaust on my crew is about as long as it would be on the bronco with a full exhaust coming out the rear, so if i exit before the rear tire i figure its gonna be worse than the crew.

the mustang h-pipe idea is a good one, will have to investigate that one.
