if you drop below 11-1200 the pump has a hard time keeping fluid where it needs to be. when you get around 800 rpm you will be looking to turn it off or it will stall. it's like stoping a stick with the clutch not in.
Iv'e been thinking of doing this to help with braking when towing in the hills. Can this cause any problems with the tranny and long as you stay above 1200rpm's and if you were to forget it was on , it would be like lugging in high gear when you come down under 1200 rpm's
When you get your DP Tuner Jody has a decel tune. Look at my sig. I snuck it in betwen 40 and 60 tow. It combines trans line pressure, TC lockup, and the EBPV. It works great empty. I can only imagine how it helps on the gn.
Yeah I know I just wanted to use lighted so I know when I have it turned on. So there for I don't know witch lighted switch to get if it can even be done. I did get a normal toggle switch plus a dpdt for the ebpv brake.
A TC that never locks up is like a slipping clutch in a manny. Poor performance, lower mpg and a whole of heat. That heat will be transferred to the tranny via the always circulating atf. Neither the TC nor the tranny would last long.
More like just a 60s/70s automatic before they came up with locking torque converters... I think that came out about the same time as overdrive. My '70 Mustang had neither. They do have a 'stall speed' where they are almost locked even without the physical lockup. I don't know why you would want to remove the lockup either though.
So if I get a switch with a light and wire it like this it will work? Even though this is for the ebpv brake.
For the TC lockup you only need one wire to the PCM and to the TC solenoid though... just the right side of your diagram plus power to light the switch.
Jody at DP can program anything you want or need. All you have to do is ask and he will deliver the program you desire. I have recently had my trans built and I am very intersted in the TC lock-up because it will drastically reduce the amount of heat put into the trans. when towing and on long up inclines. Also, the exhaust brake because of the extras I put into my trans. to enable the exhaust brake to work without damaging anything. I hope to get this mod done before the weekend. Well it certainly sound easy except for locating the correct wire to tap into. I have yet to look under the dash and try to find the majical wires. Does anyone have more detailed instructions on the location of the TC and exhaust brake wire locations?
as much as I love DP tuner..I have the SP diesel tc/lock exhaust brake..you set it while in any tune and for get it...you turn it on and off and set lock up and un lock speed using the cruse buttons..you can make it lock and unlock down to 25 MPH...and the brake turns on and off with the go peddle...once I start my truck. I pick my tune..hold the CC on button for 2 seconds..the brake and tc lock is set..when I hit 25 MPH the t/c locks..after up to speed..let off the go peddle and the EBPV will close and slow my truck down to 25 MPH when the tc unlocks so I can come to a stop...when truck is warming up in the am..I can hold the CC for 2 seconds and EBPV will close and aid in warm up..after you hook this up and set your speeds..its just a matter of turning it on when you start your truck in the morning then not touch it till you shut down..just like a jake brake in the big trucks..turn it on and for get it... its so easy..even a caveman can do it.. http://www.spdiesel.com/ << click on exhaust brake in this link..
i will say cutomer service sucks if you need any help...but it is a good product....

I agree with you as well. The SP Brake is by far a better exhaust brake system, BUT dollar for dollar the diy tc/ebpv or DP Tuner method are VERY effective.
