I'm getting a vibration. It felt like u-joints, but my whole driveshaft was brand new (rebuilt) about three months ago. I checked out the joints anyways and they felt good. Then I felt the slip joint and it feels like it is loose. (in such a way that the driveshaft can bend just a little there) Have you guys ever heard of that? I took the shaft off and drove in four wheel and it seems to be gone. its kind of hard to tell because the transfer case makes some vibration at high speed. The shaft came from Autozone. Its lifetime, so I'm getting another.
check the nut on the rear pinion. they somtimes work loose. but i would suspect its the driveline as well. the zone sells lifetime pieces of crap to be honest with you. I would find a local shop that deals in driveline builds etc..
I cant say I have a high opinion of the Zone either. But they did have the driveshaft when no one else did. It sure got me out of a bind. It would have been fun trying to drive home 400 miles on the front locked diff.
Grease that slip joint with the thickest grease you have on hand I got a ds from
a junkyard for a 85 and the slip joint has a grease fitting but my 86 ds doesn't have
it. You will have to pull it apart and grease it be sure to keep it in the same relation.
If it's got alot of slop from being dry and you drive off road or rough roads alot it
probably does need to be swapped out.
I dont drive off road so much anymore, but now and then. I live on a dirt road and when it rains hard, it gets rough until they grade it. I got a new one coming. No grease nipple and the boots are clamped on.
