I don't want to start an argument just get some different opinions, why is the V-10 a better choice than the Chevy or GMC 6.0 V-8? I like the Ford body style, interior, and extra power much better but GM has a 6 speed and better mileage.

The V-10 has almost 100 ft lbs more torque than the 6.0 GM motor.

My brother has a 6.0 GMC and is getting 11-12 mpg I don't see that as a huge gain. His truck is a 2001 Reg Cab 4x4 so its not because he has a CC either.

The 5.4 in my '04 F-150 pulled better than Chevy's 6.0 does. I've driven one and was not impressed.

V10s rule!!

bama210 So the Bilsten's are doing the job?

Sorry it too so long to reply, but I've been gone all day and just got in.

Yes, the Bilsteins are doing a great job. The truck is more stable feeling and the ride quality has improved. I also replaced the steering stabilizer while I was at it. Now if I just had some better tires!!

Wrenchtraveller i have always enjoyed my diesel I have no regrets on the change at this point. We have a 36th 5th wheel about 10k lbs, and the diesel has always pulled it well as should the V10 . Beleive it or not I will miss the smell and the romp on cold mornings Have had the truck 6 years and it will surely be missed...But its time to move on as I now have a BSEG!

Good question. aggiect01...since you mention the 6.0L Chebby engine...can you post the current hp/torque figures?

Thanks...

We recently switched from the 05 V-10 to the 08 6.4L..Nothing negative to say about the V-10..good motor. If you are going to keep the truck for awhile at 55 to 75K per year..that would be 275K to 375K in 5 years. That is advantage diesel and one of the reasons we went to the diesel as this truck is our last truck. I would not get to excited about the MPG for the 08 Diesel..yes it is better..but not all that much.

Well I've done some more thinking and I am leaning toward another diesel. I put 60-75K a year on my trucks with 10-15%towing and I can't accept 10-12mpg empty. Now all I have to do is decide on the make and model. I have a Chevy 2500 HD, Duramax, 2wd,cc for a rental and I am getting 17.45mpg with a 1500 lb load in the bed that is a 4X4X4ft dry ice box. Pretty damn impressive!

This is a "BSEG"...

It happens frequently to new V-10 owners.
