I downloaded the ROUGH version of the X3 user guide from the SCT forum, but I suspect that there is more information out there somewhere... Does anyone have anything more advanced or comprehensive for the X3? Also, the live link software is pretty cool, but it's got next to no documentation in the help files. Anything on that would be good too!
SCT doesn't have a manual for the new software yet. I don't even think it's called live link anymore, they just call it Livewire/X3 updater software. This is all you'll get from them: To update your Livewire/X3's Firmware:
1) Download and install the software drivers for Livewire/X3.
2) Download and install Livewire/X3 Updater Software.
3) Download and save the latest firmware for Livewire/X3.
4) Setup X3/Livewire for a firmware update:
X3 -> Press and hold the Cancel button on the X3 device while plugging in the USB Cable Livewire -> Press and hold the Jog button (big round button) on the LW device while plugging in the USB Cable. 5) Run Livewire / X3 Updater software and select Update Firmware.
6) Select the firmware file when prompted (*.LWU).
7) The firmware update will begin transferring the new firmware to your device. Note: If you are NOT performing a firmware update DO NOT hold any buttons while plugging the device into the PC.
What exactly are you having trouble with? Or you just want some extra bathroom reading material? hahahah
I know all of that stuff, but thanks for posting it... SCT would probably like it if you cited their website as the source LOL I keep editing this thing...
I'm not having any problems or issues at all. I just like to know more about my tools and toys. There is an in depth user guide for the XcalII, so I was hoping that there is a developing knowledge base for the X3. Perhaps it's too soon for the extraordinary as it's a very new tool. I'll just have to do things with the scientific method and perhaps add to the knowledge base that I'm looking for. Live Link is still alive and well and you can get it from the pull down list on SCT's driver and download page.
Tipp. The LiveLink software is what you use to monitor PID's. You hook your tuner up to a laptop and you can view all the sensors.
Got ya'....I just fried my livewire btw hahahaha. I was bored and wanted to see if you could view the saved 0-60 times, even though it said not to open up the 0-60 menu if the vehicle isn't running (which I did ) It just kept counting the seconds and got up to like 5 mins and none of the buttons would cancel, so I unplugged the USB cable...now it just flahses blue screen on/off. Tried updating firmware, etc but same thing....I'm contacting the company I bought it from to return it. I wanted to return it anyways b/c the damn jog wheel would stick when you turn it and cause it to turn itself off.......
I was thinking if I can get my money back, I could just buy a SCT from Matt instead of buying the custom tunes seperately... I'm not really sure if I would want to go with the Livewire again though........
yea, but I'll have to go through SCT to get that done. I have called them in the past and was NOT impressed by their customer service. I have a feeling it is going to be a long time before I get it back, which sucks b/c I just got a hold of Matt (thanks to you) for some custom tunes......
Well I'm F***ED....Can't return it b/c it's been 33 days. They only accept returns up to 30 days.........
You have got to be kidding me! That's just not good PR! How persuasive do you thin it'll be if about 3 or 4 hundred of us call and email them on your behalf? I'm game, as long as the moderators don't get jammed up by the suggestion. So, Daryl Hunter, Maxium4x4 what do you think? Can we do this without causing an issue between SCT (or whom ever) and FTE?
