Engine swap in a 85

I have a shortbed 2wd 1985 Ford F-150 with a tired 302 in it. It is fuel injected and has the AOD tranny now. I want to make a street/strip truck out of it. I know that the speed density computer it has know doesn't allow for many modifications so I want to put another motor in. Should stay with a 302 Fuel injected and change to a Mass Air system and make some modifications? or is it worth going to a 351 with mass air? or just with a 460 carb?

Biggest bang for the buck will be the 460. No substitute for cubic inches.

If I went with a 460, should I go with a carb or should I try to get one Fuel injected?

I personally would go with a carb first. If you wanted later, you could convert it to fuel injection. You will have to modify your fuel system a little bit to accommodate the carb(probably have to pull the tank and get rid of the fuel injection fuel pump), but you will be ready to go with plenty of power pretty quickly with a carb.

You can really get bogged down sometimes with fuel injection computers and wires.
