Bearing Assembly Recall

I just caught wind of a Federal-Mogul recall being done by the NHTSA...

Summary:
CERTAIN FEDERAL-MOGUL REPLACEMENT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLIES WITH THE
BRAND NAMES: NATIONAL, CARQUEST P/NOS. 515020, 515021, 515025, 515053, 515054, 515059, AND 515060, SHIPPED BETWEEN JANUARY 23, 2006, AND DECEMBER 10, 2007, SOLD FOR LIGHT DUTY AND MEDIUM DUTY TRUCKS. THE INBOARD RETENTION NUT USED TO MAINTAIN HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY CAN LOOSEN RESULTING IN AN ABS LIGHT INDICATION, NOISE, AND/OR WHEEL SEPARATION.

Consequence:
WHEEL SEPARATION CAN RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

Remedy:
FEDERAL-MOGUL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND WILL REPLACE THE HUB
ASSEMBLY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING
JANUARY 2008. OWNERS CAN CONTACT FEDERAL-MOGUL AT 248-354-7700.

This also covers NBA (National Bearing Assembly) and a lot of other brands you'll find at most automotive stores (as well as powerstroke.com). Has anyone dealt with this yet?

I bought a bearing assembly from my dealer in December. I wonder if that is affected?

Your dealer should have sold you an OEM Motorcraft assembly which is made by Timken... You should be safe.

I just called them and they fixed me right up. Thanks for posting it! That's another good reason to belong to the best truck forum on the WWW!

Unfortunately it depends on where NAPA got their part from. It will say on the assembly itself. You can try to contact either NAPA or Federal-Mogul for more clarification. People say they've been very helpful.
