Hi.... I own a 1989 F350, w/460 engine, 5-speed trans., 4x4, Crew Cab....
Would like to know, which of the high performance spark plugs, and wires would be better for my truck...and any other performance parts for that matter
any suggestions?
thanks,
As for Spark Plugs, I personally dont think there is enough difference to be of value. I have tried Splitfire, Platinum, the Platinum * 4 (4 electrodes), and have stuck with the regular Autolite plugs... Occasionally, when Im doing a lot of hard driving, I switch to the Platinums, only because they seem to burn cleaner longer. I maintain my Autolites, (clean, file, and gap every 5,000 miles) and they are great.
Wires, however.. a different story. I recommend MSD Super Conductor wires, just because I have had the most success with them. They advertise a 50-ohm/foot resistance, and I have tested this, and it is true. This gives less resistance than your normal 2000-5000 ohm/foot resistance "factory" wire, which allows an easier spark and more voltage to the spark plug.. For the price you pay, they are the best.
good luck!
