power questions

i have a 92 f150 with a 302 in it, and im about to put a 4 in lift on my truck. i know i am going to lose a lot of power when i do this. what are some ways to increase horse power on a smaller budget? and also, is a K&N air intake system worth the money?

I do not think you will lose any power with the lift just mpg due to the increased wind resistance. I think the K&N is worth the money.

Hi I have a 1995 f150 4x4 and would like to lift 4". Where did you buy your lift? Was it easily installed? What size tires are on your truck?

Change your gear ratio in the rear end.

Just buy the stock replacement K&N filter, the stock air box is a cold air intake.

You don't lose power with a lift, you perceive to lose power with larger tires. This is compensated for by changing the gear ratio. If it's a 4x4 (I hope it is, lifted 2wd trucks look ghey) then you need to change the ratio in both axles.

Yeah, K&N air intakes are one of our top selling brands

Get new gears.....that will compensate for the tires......the cold air kit is a waste of money...get a K&N drop in filter and get the air horn (from the airbox to the front of the truck) for either a 300-6 or 460...they have a different route and get colder air up in there.

A bunch... The gears usually cost at least $100... Plus its not something a amateur should do.

You need a set for the front and a set for the rear. Good gears cost more than $100. More like $200, plus the install kit. Figure about $1000 total to have a pro do it.

Yea and find out what type of gears he's going to install...alot of brands sing when they're put it.....Motive being one of them.....You'd be better off buying each gear set yourself and bringing it in...most shops will usually charge you less that way....www.ringpinion.com......that's Randy's site, he's got gearing calculators and one of the best tech helps systems around.......a set of Yukon Gears is a very good choice.Luck
