My only thought about this desk is the fact that it puts the laptop a little too far away. In the pick the console in that car is about 5inches wide, but in an X you would have to reach over quite a ways to use it. just a thought. I have looked at several differnt ones as well, but all the ones I seem to like are way too much $$. I will be interested to hear how you like this one.

Mud, the picture on J C Whitney shows it in a small Lexus SUV (or whatever). I am hoping to place it as far left in the passenger seat as possible. I think this should throw the open laptop tray just about over and near the front of the center console.... which I would consider to be a perfect position. I'm hoping it won't block the radio and heat/AC controls totally. Suppose to be shipped by 2/7/08 and arrive by 2/13/08.
Somebody mentioned GPS. This is not what I will be using my laptop for in this particular application. I will be using it program Motorola two way radios and police scanners (for civilians) in a more comfortable position. Currently it's a PITA to keep the laptop steady and work at the same time while sitting in the driver's seat.

Their u go bryan. BTW, if u have more pics of how the thing is mounted from the carpet send them to me. Im thinkin bout doin this but not to the ex. Do u guys think this will fit a 350 or 450? BTW how do u like ur tough book?

it mounts on the two front bolts of the passenger seat...same mount for 250,350,450,etc...btw-very sturdy/secure as I am offroad most of the day. Toughbook lives up to it's name in every respect. The Glock of computers!

I found this mount on ebay, however if you go to ram-mount.com you can get a Toughbook specific docking station that locks the laptop in place and supports all of your peripherals...(you could print invoices on the spot!) A bit of $$$, but then so is a laptop!
