has anyone ever had it when ya put it in drive it just sits there for about 15 sec before itll drop into gear? my 96 F250 HD is doin that now the fluid levels is good and fresh oil and filter. ive talked to a few folks about this and they tell me a HD truck is spose to "soft shift into drive" personaly ive never herd of this. mabe its just ben to cold and nothing works good when its ben as cold as it has ben here
I haven't dealt with automatic transmissions, but is there such thing as flushing the system? Sounds like things are not flowing as good as they should until things are warm and thinner. Transmission shops used to offer fluid/filter changes with band adjustment. Maybe google your problem with adjustment in there somewhere and see what comes up. Or just wait on some of the smarter people to wake up.

ok that makes sence cuzz its fine after it gets moving and even at a stop sign itll stay in gear and what not. i wonder what would cause bleed down never herd of that one. if its an expensive fix ill just run it till it dont move then rebiuld
i was told that some rebuilders do it on purpose for some unknown (to me) reason. my 92 f250 diesel does it. i don't think you would have any problems from it. its just a nuisance when you're in a hurry. mine is fine after it idles for about 15 seconds. just enough time to put the faceplate on the radio and seatbelt/sunglasses.

Mine does this too but it doesn't take that long. When I fire up cold in the morning, I let the high idle come down, put the radio faceplate in and find a station that has something I like. I put it in reverse to back out of the driveway and it shifts fine. When I stop on the street and put it into drive, it can take as long as 5 to 8 seconds to hit the gear. Then it works fine. I had the trany checked at my local shop and he gave it a clean bill of health and said this is normal. After seeing this post, I guess he is right.
when you say 'fresh oil and filter" do you mean you dropped the pan and replaced filter and put pan back on and filled the fluid?
if you did only this and did not drain the convertor at the same time than that is your problem.

it was hooked to a flush machine both lines where disconected and run to this machine as the old fluid is pumped into it new fluid is pumped back into the trans, some where in this process the filter was changed i dont no all the details how this works but for $69.99 i wasnt complaining
