Ford-A-Matic vs C4

Ford-A-Matic vs C4
I just acquired a 58 F100. It has a Y-Block 292 with a Ford-A-Matic. Is this Tranny worth rebuilding, or can a C4 be fitted to the Y-Block with out a lot of work and expense. Thanks in advance

C4 would require an adaptor, but Advanced Adaptors lists nothing for the y block. The only adaptor I see is for the AOD. $750 and you need a reworked AOD, which they do not provide for free.

As for the Ford o matic overhaul, I googled "ford o matic rebuild kit" and got:

And a host of others. If it's a 3 speed Ford o, I'd check out the the rebuild.
