An 89 Ford van. Van starts and runs for a few minutes, then dies. I have cleaned the IAC and it didn't help. New fuel filter didn't help. I started the van and let it idle. I laid under he van while idling with my hand on the fuel pump. I felt a steady vibration, then a hesitaion, then another then the engine shut off. The van will usually start back up. Is this a bad pump?
Maybe but could also be a bad TFI Module or PIP sensor.
You will have to do some tests. Ground pin #6 of the test connector over by the battery to keep the fuel pump relay picked and the pumps running and see if it dies.
Also make sure that small black wire coming off the Neg. post of the battery and going through a one-wire connector into a black wire with a green stripe is well grounded at the post.
Okay, I did the connection using a test light due to the van not having a check engine light. 2 blinks pause 2 blinks pause 1 blink pause 2 blinks pause 2blinks and that is it. According to the charts this is a system pass. Would the TFI and/or PIP not show on the EEC connection? The van runs for approximately 4 minutes every time then shuts down as if it were running out of fuel.

I did the test. I connected it the way the site says to. It comes back as operator connection error. The initial blinks of the test light show the van to have a 5 cylinder. Can you tell/show me which pin is pin #6? In the instructions on the last web site it tells you to connect the STO to the battery on both of the instructions but not to jump across the STI to pin #2 on the run test. Sorry for the confusion.
