could d2te-aa be a replacement for the c8ae-h? by the way, I've got a list of casting numbers I've printer off and it does'nt show the H on these c8ae, is there a reason the chart has over fifty numer groups and the H is not listed? thank. Jim
Well I dont know why the H head isnt listed? But the D2 heads are a nice head and can replace the C8's..they even come with harded exhaust seats...we have one of our members that did some home porting to his, and bumped up the CR, and ran a modest cam, headers, and an EFI unit and made around 400hp....
thank you for your answer. I have both sets of head and both engines are running. my spec sheets show that the D2's were for 332HD. 361 c.i. and the C8's are for a 427. how come there would be 427 heads on a 360? by the way both engines are 360. Alot of mixing with these fe's. Sorry for my rookie questions but have to learn sometime and thanks to everyone here I've become a quick study. I also have 351M and 400M not sure what to do with them yet.
The C8AE-H's were not 427 heads. There is some bad info out there in print then put on the net. The C8-H and D2-AA heads were both the std bread and butter FE heads. Like Russ said the D2's had the induction hardened seats. Mostly found on the 360, 390. Some 428's came with the C8's.
C8AE-H---D2TE-AA---same heads, just induction hardened seats as posted above. Completely interchangeable. There were a few variations with the C8AE-H 's though, they came with two different exhaust bolt patterns (GT390 14 bolt & std 8 bolt) and with and without Thermactor ports drilled and tapped. I think the D2's also came with and without Thermactor ports too.
