I have a 01 f250 7.3 6 speed 4x4 and it seems like when i get on it in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th i have maybe a boost leak. What it does is the truck is pulling hard until i hit about 2900-3000 rpm then it feels like it lets up, if i keep my foot in it after 3000 rpm it goes back to pulling hard until i have to shift.
Please help me i am stumped.
Thanks in advance
nope no gauges and when I bought it, it had a bully dog power pup. But I forgot to add when it feels like the boost goes down the engine sounds like it has a loud knock to it.

Clogged fuel filter? Don't laugh, it will make your injectors rattle if there isn't enough fuel for them to refill.
Ok on these trucks is the fuel filter back near the fuek tank or is it up front somewhere. If it isnt the fuel filter could it be an injector. How would I test to see ewhich injector is bad.

It's up on top of the engine, underneath the plasic Powerstroke cover. 4" round canister with a screw top removable lid. Use a couple of very large screw drivers in an "X" pattern to remove after you drain the fuel. Fuel drain is the yellow lever on the back side of the filter housing. Swing it out so it points to the rear of the truck and be ready to catch about 8 oz of fuel comeing down over your front axle.

Check here. I did it yesterday and other than having an aftermarket filter and having to go buy one of those instead of the OEM style one i already had, it went well. Could be done in half an hour start to finish if you don't make a huge mess like I did.
well i replaced the fuel filter this morning and it didnt seem to happen it still has the strange knock/cackle when it hits 2900-3000 rpm with a decrease then once is passes 3000 rpm it pulls hard again until i shift any other suggestions
