best performance programmer?

i have a 2001 f150 scab lariat 5.4 with a cold air intake and a true dual exhaust with two 40 series flowmasters. Im looking for opinions for the best (and least expensive?) programer for performance. will it make a noticeable difference, or should i save my money? thanks

The Diablo is good...but I would go with the X-cal by Superchips.

I had a Diablo on my powerstroke and loved it... although these mod gas motors aren't gonna respond like a diesel... I had a hypertech on my '97 4.6 and didn't notice a ton of difference. Also, I had to run premium.

On a gasser you are going to see firmer shifting, slightly better throttle response and slightly better gas mileage....not a whole lot in performance but the shifting really makes the difference.

My Predator makes a very noticeable difference on the 93 octane setting. I unloaded the program when I had the truck in the bodyshop and didn't really notice a whole lot of difference without it. I reloaded it a couple of days after I got it back and man what a difference!! More power and about 2mpg better.

You willget people on here saying the predater is the best thing since T P. And others saying the exact opposite. If you get around any predaters gaurd your money closely.Go to there site and look around.See all the unhappy posts for yourself. If you dont have predater support in your backyard or any closer than you want to drive, stay away

Never have had a minutes trouble with it and it is several years old. A great scan tool too.

I bought the Hypertech Power Programmer III on ebay and love it....especially running the 93 octane program and firmer shift setting.

They all do about the same thing. I got the Predator because it is easily updatable online. It also has a nice easy to read backlit screen.

I must say i love my edge, and my truck does run hella harder with it... and i get some fancy live read outs going down the highway , like Instant MPG and Average MPG... plus all the other goodies like 0-60 and 1/4 mile... and it had deffinitions for all the codes... so you generally dont need a book to look up the code.

I don't have a programmer yet, but i've been looking at that edge evolution. Looks pretty sweet.

It cost a little more than some of the others, but I think it's worth it for the instant display with all those extra features the other programmers don't have.

the one thing i don't like about the Hypertech is that the program it was loaded with in 2001 or so is it, no updates, nada.

i can do without the "data at your fingertips"....just one more thing to take my attention away from the road.
