Anyone have anything picked out as their next purchase? i am not sure what we would get next. I have to do some work to our floor hoist - it is keaking some! Its one of those old ones that was in the elevators (air only not oil so its not as smooth bt I have easily lifted the front axle on a semi and thats around 11000 pounds. We put a top from a car/truck lift hoist on it (frame lift with 4 arms.
Well I have a few things in mind when I get my shop. I would like to get an arc welder, and maybe upgrade my mig. I plan on getting a nice large tool chest that a guy can roll around. I was pretty much going to upgrade my whole tool set, new wrenches, sockets, ratchets, screwdrivers, a whole ton of stuff.
Its going to be a pretty big bill, but since I do alot of working on my own stuff, and I plan on doing more, i think its gonna be money well spent.
There`s not much more I really need or could fit in my 24X40 shop..... Once in a while I could use a hoist but not often enough to worry about it, having four good sized floor jacks really helps.
The 28X40 shop is mainly for working/storing a bigger truck and storing Mustangs, etc and I have enough hand tools in there too.
This sucks when there`s a really good sale on.....
i should get an engine hoist, but my next big mechanical purchase might be a welder. just bought a couple of work related tools that was enough spending for a while!!
Chop saw so I can actually get straight cuts on the metal, need it for the flat bed build, and a DRILL BIT SHARPENER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I must be doing something wrong, I don't understand how I can dull 4 bits drilling 4 holes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
U want true HSS drill bits, dont buy anything thats coated. and drill bit sharpeneers suck. grinder and a good eye is the best u can do.
my next purchase........maybe a tig welder, or a decent hammer and dolly set, possible a durablock kit. I will be revamping my autobody tools as i get farther into my resoration. but I dont feel like dropping to much more on tools till i get a bigger truck.
I bought a 1000lb engine stand at Princess Auto on sale, no problem for it with the 292 Y-Block. I can`t remember what I paid for it but it was only afew $ more over the puny 750lb one.
I need a real job, so I can build my tools back up. I made the mistake of putting them in a storage locker my Pop rented, he missed 3 months, and I lost about 3,000 worth of tools, including my 2nd hand Lincoln Electric Mig welder. (I only paid $100 for it), but there was nothing wrong with it.
I`m sorry to hear that, I know I`d miss my tools alot if that happened.
Isn`t seizing your contents too drastic after only three months?
I suppose that`s their legal right but still seems very unfair, especially under these circumstances.....
