Edit: PS: this is friendly heat nothing serious!! You are probably right you know alot more about computers then me since youve been using them since the early seventies!!
My first computer was from the early 70's I didn't get it until the late 70's I got my dad to buy it at a military auction we were at in New West. I got the monitor, keyboard, and 2x8" floppy drives (one unit) 2 banks of reel to reel memory (1kb) each reel was 2.5ft across, 4 banks of reel to reel storage (each reel was 4ft across by 3" thick) plus 1 5mb HD (with its own crane, it weighed almost 800lbs)

II wasn't too much into web pages until 2001ish. I had more fun making a mess load of cash from the W2K bug (100% pure BS) but I made almost $100k in the first 4 months of 1998.

((edit)) nothing heated here well except the central heat... nice n warm in my apt

Ok you have me beat! What could you all do on that computer? Do you still have it? That is massive! I dont understand how they could fit movie film (which would be alot more then 1KB) on a reel, yet there you had a reel 2.5 feet diameter that was only 1KB? Dont suppose that old 800LB HD had platinum in it like nowadays hey? That would be worth some good money!

Y2K wasn't a bug, it was a line of BS that Microsoft put out to the world, that IF you didn't upgrade (buy) a new computer, or have your clock chip updated, as of Jan 1 2000, your computer would probably stop working.

I have a IBM from 1982, it still works just fine, it take a week to load dos (version 1) to the c:\ and 2 weeks to load Windows (version 1)

Between 1998 & 1999 I made and spent probably close to a million. I was young and stupid and living in Victoria (on my boat). I spent more money than I made, and now I am in serious debt, and work at a ski hill to pay rent.

I donated it to the Smithsonian in 2000. I was in Washington DC in April of 2000, I hit the Smith, they had a Zenith ZR1 (non working). I donated them mine (working)

If you wanna know, ask away. I'm a wealth of useless information. But I know a thing or 2 about computers, I'll give you the first 2 for free, then I charge $65p/hr
