I have been browsing this sight for a couple of days since I have made the decision to pick up an used Excursion. Looks like a lot of useful information here and glad to see an active posting board.
I'm hoping to sell my 00 Tundra and buy an excursion, probably 00 to 01. That era fits my price range better. I've seen a few up here in Maine. Anyway, wanted to say great site and hopefully I'll own one of these monsters soon.
You will find this forum to be a great source of information...lots of great folks willing to share what they have learned.
You should check out our Excursion get together in Gatlinburg in July if you can make it!...I know it will be a bit of a drive from Maine though! You can find the information in the thread at the top of this forum...
I'm also a used Excursion owner and have had my 2000 for about 15 months. Prepare to be spoiled! We just drove ours back from Hilton Head Is., SC today, about 570 miles. We can't believe the lack of stiffness or fatique after riding in it all day. We previously had 5 Suburbans and my wife said that she doesn't get the stiffness in her hips that she did in the Suburbans.
Remember, when looking for an X, you can look in the whole country rather than just local and especially considering we dont' have salt on the roads down here in the south. It's worth the drive. Hell, I have a couple driving down from Maine or Maryland next week just to pick up a rescue dog from me so I know the X is worth driving for
Also, if you find one that's far away, you may be able to find someone here to take a look at it for you
Welcome to the Excursion forum! Lots of great people on here and we have fun!
Ask Matt, George, Joe or Beth and many others! (of course now I'm in trouuble caused I probably left someone out). And we all agree the Excursion is the best vehicle out there especially the diesels. Matt especially...
Seriously there is a lot of info already here and if you have any problems with your Excursion I am sure the answers are here. If not someone will step up with the solution.
Thanks for the invites. I am enjoying looking around but also getting anxious to own one. Going to take my time though and find what I want. I'm not set on diesel or gas and would take either although I know I will be paying more for a diesel. Most of my driving is short jaunts back and forth to work and around town.

He's right Nick. I think he was trying to spare you..
Rolfe, do your math on how much you drive vs the cost of the diesel. I did and decided it would take me 3-4 years just to pay the difference in price and decided to stick with a V10. Also, some people that do drive diesels told me that some gas stations dont' even sell diesel so it was an easy choice for me.
The v10 vill tow 10,000 so if that's ok, it's a good consideration.
Yeah, it sucks gas like my ol' girlfriend (enter choice of words here) but I only drive 15,000 miles a year.

The v-10 will tow more that that. It technically can tow more then the PSD because it weighs less.
I like this george, u giving info about the ex. Keep up the work george.

Once again thanks for the positive reception.
Rolfe
Id say u need the v-10. And the reason i say this is because u arent driving long distances. Short trips are what kill a diesel
