I have been on other forums and people seem to want to bicker at each other and that isn't a good thing. Yes, you will see alot of different opionions but that is what they are. There is no need to argue though. I know guys that have been heavy truck mechanics for 20 plus years, like myself, and we have differences of opionion but we get along fine. We all have different ways of doing things and our own reasons for it but that doesn't make either person wrong.
Dave is a good moderator and does a fine job. Even though he is fromt WV and I am from KY.
There is a diverse group here but all and all they are a pretty good group.
I am still relatively new to this forum and have noticed one thing that seems to be a common factor across the spectrum. Most of the folks who post we advice have a sense about them that they know what they know and know what they don't know. This is something I have always tried to live by myself and it keeps me out of trouble quite a lot of th time. I tend to just lurk until I have a question or need help but on occasion I will chime in and add what I know to a thread. I have been a wrench for 18 years but am new to the diesel world having spent most of my days on cars and boats. I do it just fo fun and the occasional buck now and get to enjoy it. Thanks to all of you who make this board a good place to be!
My wife has a grand cherokee, so I used to visit a forum called jeepsunlimited.com You can ask a question on there and you will always get a smart a_$ answer back. Some people make a great tool into a big headache. Everyone one here that I have dealt with have been very professional and knoledgable. I am no mechanic at all, but the people here explain things so well that I have been able to do most things on my own, without having to pay someone else to do it. This forum has saved me a ton of money. And its also fun and interesting to read most of the posts. Thanks

A large board....depends on how you look at the info.
I think it has a lot to do with the attitude and the type of people that drives the idi's.
I also think it hes a lot to do with having a moderater that is extremely helpful devotes a lot of time to the site welcomes everyone knows what he is talking about and above all knows that ford engineers are not paid to design their product for the good of the consumer (us) everything can be improved on. Dave has tried a lot of improvements and his opinion on what works what don't and what might work is respected by everyone on this forum.
Unlike other forums on this site when somebody post something that is thinking out of the box nobody complains that the post was labelled wrong or that is not the way FORD intended or told to get of the forum or even the site. There is very little bad info compared to other sites. So I have concluded it is the attitude of the type of people who puts the time in to maintain and drive IDI'S. My 2 cents.
Helping others is a pretty good life. A lot of people can,t afford to be partschangers until they find what works. the good info on this site makes it great.
I can't count the number of times I have needed help, and have turned to this site and gotten answers...AND GOOD ANSWERS...almost instantly, day or night. Working on my 69 F100, 77 F250 or my 90 F350, these guys have gotten me out of some real binds.
As a career mechanic, everything from cars to heavy equipment, I like this forum and one other for our engines and trucks. I try to offer what works and has worked for me over the years and as most of you know that doesn't mean specs right out of the book.
I found these forums before building my diesel for my truck and it was very valuable for info and for circumventing problems before they attack. I did some stock idi rebuilds but never a hopped up one like mine and it was refreshing to get questions answered here and other places without any bickering or judging/ Kudos to the mods
