At work we have a 98 4.6 4x4 F-150. It is not getting any fuel. Is the filter in the tank? I am suspecting the pump because it has never choked out or sputtered. I shut it off to do some work and when I got back in it would not start. It is getting spark and if I spray in some starting fluid it will run for a few seconds. Is there a fuse for the pump? The manual is not in the truck so I have no idea what each fuse is for.
I beleive there is a fuel sut off switch located on the passenger side of the vehicle, check and make sure it is not tripped to the off position. A sudden jar can trip trip the switch.
Look for the filter under the truck on the drivers side, inside the frame, Remove the back fuel hose and stick it in a bucket, then turn the key to "on"
don't crank it, just turn it on ......If fuel squirts out the pump is ok, if not.
When you turn the key on the in tank electric fuel pump turns on.
The engine does not have to be running for the pump to come on.
You should here the pump running.
