Wink correct

Yep You are correct BUT.... If in werent for these left wing eco freaks saying how we are killing our planet by burning oil, both left and right might agree to use more of our own resources to lower fuel costs. Are you sippin the COOLAIDE? Ha Ha just messin with ya. But really all I hear these days is how to go green. Green is a bunch of Al Gore baloney. I wish we could find a person to run for president that looks out for us,and that has had a real job instead of just a long political career.

Of course it might have some bearing but what about previously? GM and Ford didn't lose market share in just the 2000 and up time. They have been steadily losing market shares since way back when. The Japs had junk but built better stuff till the Ford and GM cars were edged out.

I get tired of all the "green" garbage, as well. I live in Kansas, just a few miles north of Oklahoma. Gas has a 10 cent higher tax here than in OK, so I used to make a short trip to save a dime. The border towns caught on, and are now making an extra dime profit. What I'm even more curious about, though, is why gas is 25 to 30 cents cheaper in OKC, than even in the panhandle. I know it doesn't cost that much to transport mass quanitities. I called one of our local gas station owners, and that was the story I got from him, but I don't believe it. My parents live in OKC, and are always asking about the gas price. Amarillo is only 3 hours away, and gas is about the same as in OKC. Diesel is much cheaper as well. Just try getting past 1-40 and Morgan Road in OKC when the truck stops there decide to have a price war. Even without the war, diesel is much cheaper at this particular set of truck stops.

But the point is, while Americans are suffering with these $3.00+ a gallon prices, the oil companies are posting record profits year after year. And yes, I guess this makes me mad because of the mileage my Excursion gets. Just like with the housing market being so bad now, my real estate property asessment went up another record 19% this year. While everybody wittles away at my wallet, I am going from middle class America right into perhaps qualifying for food stamps soon.
I love reading these threads that beat up corporate America, especially oil companies. How about this little tid bit. These same Americans who are suffering with $3.00/gallon gas prices are the same Americans who pay over $5.00/ gallon for bottled water and 20 to 30 years ago when gas prices were low water was free as it is today. SO WHAT IS YOUR POINT?

This subject originally started out as satire, comedy, off the wall. Look at the title, when's the last time you ever saw Exxon thank anybody? It's taking all sorts of directions now. I would like to make it very clear that I do not discriminate. Online I beat up on many things, not just corporate America. I love to beat up on corrupt crooked cops, city and county governments, all of our sports heroes secretly on steroids, etc... On a local level I pretty much limit myself to the crooked corrupt cops and the "us vs them" mentality being taught in the police academy now. In just two months we have had a police car almost run over two pedestrians and another police car run over a man in a wheelchair. Know who got charged both times? The pedestrians and the man in the wheelchair. Even though our DMV manual teaches drivers that pedestrians always have the right of way. The entire community is ready to hang both our local police chiefs from the nearest tree. It's obvious the police are looking out for each other, not the community. So anyhow, I don't think the oil companies will mind me laughing at their record profits. I don't even think they will mind me being mad because of their record profits. When they finally get their product up to $5.00 a gallon, which is their goal by the way, I guess they won't even mind my laughing at their record profits again at that time. See what you did? You got me talking now, and I can't shut up!

Because many people won't be able to afford bottled water any longer.

Its unfortunate that that the gas companies are posting record high sales while the American Auto Industry are posting losses, thats one thing I can not stand, the gas companies have a bunch of lobbyists in Washington and I'd like to know how many the auto companies have (I only know of one) thats rediculous, somebody needs to help them out, but the Big Three are also somewhat at fault. They weren't ready for change, the gas prices caught them with their pants down and they were late to catch on with fuel efficient vehicles.

For the people that are against going green, I have to disagree with you, global warming is happening, but not like some say and manage to blow it out of proportion. IMO, the continued use of oil is a matter of national security due to the fact that most of the oil comes from countries that don't like us, what if they decide to stop sending oil to us (were screwed) (WE NEED ALTERNITIVE FUELS) As for the all the taxes, IMO I support the Fair Tax System, your taxed on what you buy not on how much one earns. Having a bunch of taxes on gas like they do in Europe sounds like a good idea and would probably work, but I don't like it because then I wouldn't be able to drive my beloved Excursion and we'll end up driving small cars, or in other words the way I see it we'll be forced to drive fuel efficient vehicles and not have the freedom to drive what ever we want, something that we have now and one of the great things about America.

Another reason I believe were headed into a recession (on top of the high gas prices) is because of the mortgage companies lying to the people about the terms of the mortgages, the people were manipulated into believing they could afford a certain home and it ended up that they couldn't and then causing all the fore closures.

I agree with you on alot of what you said. I just wonder if there isnt some Master Plan by our country to use OPEC for as long as we can or until shut off and then drill off the eastern coast for ourselves. People in the know say we have a bigger supply off N. and S. Carolina than the mid east has all together! I hope they a right, but also hope the greenies dont kill America first

I would really have to see that in person to believe it.

Trust me though, I hope it is true!
