Love the long bed...settled for a short bed because of the deal.

Everybody laughs at me...because I ALWAYS back it in. But they quit laughing when it's time to leave and it's easy going!

LOL

You just get use to it. I have taken my CCLB to Vegas several times as well as many other large cities that have tight parking spaces. I have always had large pickups though so I guess I am comfortable parking them in small places if needed.

I drive an '04 cc/sb for personal, and use an '07 cc/lb @ work. I personally like my sb over the lb but do have to say the '07 does turn nicer than my '04. But it still takes a country mile to turn the thing. Have never run into a situation were my sb would not do, but I do not have a tool box or anything like that in it

Backing in is the way to go. Backing into a tight spot is actually easier because you have the mirrors to see better on the passenger side of the truck.

I find it odd that the majority on here are picking the crew cab long bed. Try finding one in stock at a dealer! All they seem to ever have is supercab short beds - they are everywhere. So much for knowing what the customer wants...

BTW - crew cab long bed for me definitely. Or anything long bed - I find a short bed about useless for carrying purposes.

I use my truck for towing and hauling. Kids have moved out(YES!!), it's just the wife, a small dog, and I. My feeling is long bed or I won't own it. Parking is only a problem with the 34' fifthwheel attached.

Maybe Ford has their numbers all screwed up because of what dealerships are ordering for their stock, but from their Order Guides the crew cab w/short box is the numerical winner. Prime example, the 2008 Order Guide shows that this combination is the majority of projected builds in the XLT (38%), FX4 (65%), and Lariat (75%) trim levels.

Speaking for myself, I tend to lean towards that configuration myself. I have the cab capacity for whatever passengers I might want to drag along...and in comfort. And "losing" 16" of bed length is pretty minimal. Having had both a long & short bed, I can honestly say that there is not a single thing that I've ever put in a long bed that I could not have put in a short bed.

Now, if I had a 5th wheel....long box, all the way.

Thats because all the long bed crew cabs are sold out!

What made me decide on it was the 10gallon larger fuel tank the long bed comes with.
And being able to close the tailgate with motorcycles in the bed, 8 foot 2x4's, drywall, etc.
I don't think I ever complained about my bed being too big.

Carry to much stuff in the cold up here in Bush Alaska not to have the crew cab and haul wood, snowgos, moose meat ,1#fuel oil 500 gal at a time. With two girls it is easyier to have the cc long bed. But it is nice to have my high boy chaseing cows back in Montana. Never had any trouble parking in Anchorage,Ak with my 97 F350 long bed.

Back in always.

If i get somewhere first i have no problem taking 2-3 spaces. Most people dont argue with a big truck. If someone has a problem with it i just tell em to go tie a rope. I only run into that problem when i go into the city though

2) I don't stress over finding a park spot close.
3) I don't worry as much getting door-dinged.
I will second this post...not to mention...

4) pulling my 32 foot fifth wheel with the long beds allow alot of extra room for turning manuvers and allows me not to have to watch the mirrors every second while turning in tight quarters and worry about the nose to the rig hitting the cab of my truck...

5) My Crew Cab also allows me to seat six with comfort

6) I have even conducted parallel parking manuvers with it before

7) But most of the time I just park way out and walk.

My 2008 F350 Larait 4x4 V10 TS 4.30 ls is my second long bed crew cab and wouldn't drive anything else!!!

I would say it's all in what you need the truck to do,,I have the S-Cab, short bed,,snowplowing around parked cars, and many other obsticles the short-bed makes a big difference when backing up within inches sometimes,,I am also a contractor,,with the sliding rear windows,,I can carry a few up to 16' brds or whatever,,I purchased one of the Hitch mounted extenders,,and can carry 12' sheetrock with no problem,,It pulls my trailers well,,,might not be quite as stable as the DRW trucks I had,,but does the job well.
The Short beds are almost 7' long,,82.5" I beleive,,ATV's just fit,,S-Bed has a 29 gallon tank,,cost enough to fill it,,L-bed is 38 gallon,,sure it's nice to have the extra distance to empty.
S-cab is great for extra stuff in the cab,,not the best for passenger's,,but does work,,If I get another truck,,,I may look at the CC,,The 06' F-350 6.0 has been great,,pulls like a 20 legged mule,,and runs great,,all stock, over 30k now ! Buy what ya like ! Later,,,,,Mark

i love my 02 c/c long bed. i can load my sled in the back and leave my tool box in the back without the track hanging out the back but a few inches past the edge of the tailgate. kinda hard driving in the city but im used to dring dumptruck and lowboys, so this is a piece of cake. hehe

I have a 06 SC/SB PSD pulling a 36 ft taper nose gooseneck trailer for my race car. It clears the cab with room to spare backing up or turning and the back seat is great for access to the cooler on a road trip. I use it as a daily driver around town so the shorter the better. It’s all in what you need it for.
