Turbo Valve ???

Hello all,

I am installing a Non EBPV pedestal and a Non EBPV outlet on my 2000 turbo this weekend. Since I have the turbo torn apart, I have one question about the little actuator valve (flap) and what to do with it. Do I just leave it alone or do I fix it to where it is open/closed? I have never done this before and can't seem to find what others are doing.
To clarify this flap I'm talking about, it is located on the piece next to the outlet, and it is what the rod connects to. Any help on this would be great.

When you install the non EBPV outlet, that piece is going to not be used anymore, it replaces it. 7 bolts and that piece falls off the exhaust turbine and you bolt the non EBPV outlet on it. No such worries.

Awesome truck BTW, how the F do you get in it?

Thanks, but I was actually talking about the little flap valve that is on the piece that the one you are talking bolts to. It is only about an inch in diameter.

As for my truck, I have to jump in and hope for the best

That is your wastegate. Do not wire that shut and be sure to reconnect your wastegate actuator to it.

Oh, duh that's the wastegate. That stays on the Turbine housing, and you won't need to touch it. However you can examine how it works and look at it once you remove the turbine outlet flange. By "the rod" i was assuming you meant the rod coming out of the turbo pedestal.

So no matter what, I have to reconnect it huh? What if it feels a little loose and may be leaking?

Remove the turnbuckle end, hold the shaft with vise grips, turn the turnbuckle clockwise to shorten the length of the rod, effectively placing more spring seat load on the wastegate valve to hold it closed longer.

Couldn't I just screw in the rod until it stops and accomplish the same thing?

I am looking at it right now and it is welded at the top, how do you actually turn it if it welded?

You screw the rod into the bit that connects to the wastegate, not the end that goes into the big diaphragm housing.

The one pictured below is not the exact same one as what we have on our trucks but it is close enough. See the part labelled wastegate actuator rod? Screw that onto the shaft coming out of the bib bulbuous end tighter. Be sure to loosen the jam nut first if you have one.

Awesome illustration!! Thanks a bunch. Screwing it in all the way will not affect anything will it?

It will hold your wastegate shut harder and allow you to build more boost. You should not see any problems if you still have the red line connected to the actuator.
