So here is my Problem, I start my truck with no big problems( sits outside temps between 10 and 40) not really hard start or anything it does blow white. After it starts and it sits there idleing it starts romp romp ing still blowing white smoke. if I drive it before i let it idle for 7-10min it will get to about 2000 rpms and lose all power and die. then after it dies it is extremley hard to start again. It wont do that if i plug it in. Glow plugs, Relay? I am at about 3500-4000 on the oil so that is getting changed on monday.
If you are not having a problem starting, I would look at the oil you are using. Lots of guys her are using synthetic 5w/40w. But changing the oil will help also. And it's best to let it warm up before you take off.
After that length of time I wouldn't think of it as a glow plug issue. Your glow plugs only run for 1.5 minutes in the winter (more or less depending on temps) after cranking. So after that time period the glow plug system has no effect. Yet you still have to let it idle 7-10 minutes or it stalls. I've had two glow plug relays go bad on me and I still got my truck to crank in cold weather once with the old screwdriver trick. As soon as I got it cranked the glow plugs were off. Once it was running, that was it. No stalls, no loss of power. I drove off within the first minute of cranking.
You've also mentioned that it runs fine when you plug in the block heater. I'm thinking more along the lines of possibly a sticking IPR. If it's sticking, cold thick oil could make it worse and cause your loss of power and stalling issues. Once the oil warms up, the IPR has an easier time keeping up.
Of course, that's just my theory. If you have a scanner to hook up you could watch the ICP pressure, DC, and voltage to see if that is in fact happening.
EBPS causing the EBPV to hang closed even if it was warming up?
When my EBPS went on me, I had no power until after it fully warmed up. Even pushing the Brake or the accellerator pedal would not cause the EBPV to open back up. Changed the EBPS and problem was gone.
AIH is only activated after the glow plug system is shut off. Also the AIH comes only with foot off the brake, truck in park (or ebrake/neutral for 6-speeds), and high idle must be activated. So driving and having the truck shut down is not AIH related. Many guys, including myself, have deleted the AIH with no problems.

Yeah but the EBPV won't cause your truck to stall. If it's sticking closed it will cause severe power loss and excessively high EGT's. The stalling is a separate issue.
Keep the ideas coming. The IPR is my only idea, but I'm not sure if it's correct. I would think that if it was a fueling issue that problems would persist with a warm engine too. Same thing with electrical. But I know that some folks here have had the same issue.
