I have a newbie question:
- when switching to 4x4, the manual says I can switch wit speeds up to 55 mph, but to go back to 2 wheel drive, do I just switch the button to 2H? or do I have to do the whole reverse for half a block gig??
its a 2008 F150...
Nope, just switch it back to 2H. However, if you were in 4L, then I would recommend switching out of 4L back to 2H at a stop. But for 2H to 4H, just use the button. I switch in and out in the snow depending on road conditions and I've never had a problem. 2004 with 87K miles and still going..
if in 4x4lo, you need to switch to 4x4hi, then 4x2. maybe the new trucks are different, but mine won't switch to 4x2 from 4x4lo unless I go to 4x4hi first.
also, make sure to be in neutral with foot on the brake to shift into/out of 4x4 lo
And be prepared to hear a nice clunk... lol First time I heard that noise I almost cried thinking my new truck already had to go back in to the dealer.
