its an 85 f250 with a 351 its 2wd i believe its a camper special not sure though. Regular cab. I thought it was weird too, only cause my insurance company said it didn't exist either, but she said it was the 5th digit that was wrong.

Nevermind.

It's because it's an '85. OASIS only tracks the last 10 years. That's why I asked what year it was.

OASIS Report Please.

Hi, I'm new here. Can I please have an Oasis report on these two 05 diesel Excursions. I'm trying to decide on purchasing one and am wondering which would be the best option.

1FMSU45P85ED47169 Eddier Bauer vesrion 44,000 miles
1FMSU41P45EA92493 XLT version 47,000 miles

Also, I have a question about the value of these vehicles. Kelley Blue Book puts the XLT at approx $30,200 in excellent condition. I started negotiating a deal with a dealer for the XLT model, Eventually I got to the point where I figured my final offer would be acceptable to them and told them I'd pay $30,000 as long as it was my bottom line and I could be out the door on the road in the truck, (tax and tags included), but they told me they paid close to retail to get the vehicle in their inventory and these vehicles are expensive and the blue book retail isn't something that anyone can really go by for these vehicles. I didn't buy what he was saying and I didn't buy his excursion either, but I am still curious about what they said. I thought my offer was more than fair and reasonable. Can anyone enlighten me please. Thanks.

I have been tracing the Xcursion for the last month or so, still looking for one.
Here in B.C. the 05's are going anywhere from 35,000 to well over into the 45's. But again this is in B.C. from what I can tell the price in the US is somewhere in the 5000 less range. Still seem to be very saught after vehicle, especially the diesel, so if the market in your area is high, which most are, he is correct. What I would do, if you can is wait a few weeks and if they don't sell it soon, they will drop the price. The one I'm currently looking into has just come down 3 1/2 k and I'm sure now they will be more willing to move it off their lot, and talk a more sensible price to what I want to pay. Good luk. just my 2 bits

You should probably start a new thread for the second part of your question. But here goes anyways: <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

<o> </o>

When I was in the process of researching the value of a 7.3 4x4 2000 Excursion Limited with around 95,000 miles I used www.kbb.com, www.nada.com and the national dealer auction website (through a used car dealer friend of mine). The price difference between the Kelly Blue Book private party good condition and the Nada low retail price was about $2,500 with Nada being the higher price of the two. The price difference in the national dealer auction website average price and the Kelly Blue Book good condition price was about $2,200 with of course Kelly Blue Book being the higher of the two. After talking to the used car dealer friend of mine my opinion is that most of these Excursion’s are purchased at dealer auctions for around Kelly Blue Book excellent trade in value. If that is true there should be quite a bit of price negotiation left in the retail price. If the Excursion is really clean I wouldn’t offer them any more than the excellent private party price but that’s just me.<o></o>

<o> </o>

Here’s the other side of the coin.<o></o>

<o> </o>

I bought my Excursion from a private party and paid less than Kelly Blue Book good condition price with a lot of extras. However, I made a deal with the old owner before the Excursion came out in the Trader and while I was getting financing the ad came out and there was so much interest in the vehicle that they had to unplug their phones. In fact they said that some had offered to pay more than I had offered them. After I purchased my Excursion I was talking to one of the managers of a local Ford dealership and he said that if you can get an Excursion for the Kelly Blue Book price your getting a good deal because most of the 7.3 Excursion’s that he sees sell are usually for about $4,000 over Kelly Blue Book. Take that information for what it’s worth. <o></o>

wow,..ok. Maybe I should re-evaluate my options. I'm looking for a good tow vehicle to tow a travel trailer toy hauler. The trailer is going to be close to 9000 lbs loaded. It's primary purpose will be to tow the camper, and then transport all us happy campers to area attractions on vacations.

oh yea,..i forgot to mention, I was budgeting for around $25000 for a good tow vehilce, I figured since its primary purpose would be for towing that kind of weight on relatively long hauls, then the diesel was the way to go. When I came across an 05 excursion, i was so impressed with it I allowed myself to justify spending up to $30000. In my mind, it was a very reasonable, fair (yet hefty on my wallet) offer. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good tow vehicle without droping soo much money?

For $25,000 I am pretty sure you should be able to buy a 2002 – 2003 Excursion with mileage around 70,000 or so. I have a friend of mine that just purchase a 7.3 4x4 2002 Excursion with about 65,000 miles on it for $22,000. If you decide to purchase a 2003 make sure it is an early 2003 with the 7.3 diesel engine since the 6.0 diesel engine had many problems for that year. The 2002 and 2003 both have a towing capacity of 11,000 lbs. with a hitch limit of 12,500 lbs. You might want to add air bags for towing though.
