Cool External Temperature Sensor

The external temp being displayed on my 2002 4 door XLT has gone wonky. The temps it displays (in the instrument cluster) are no where close to being accurate. I would guess that the sending unit/sensor is to blame. Where is it located and how do I change it ? Is it an expensive part?

Help please ..

Ed

usually under/behind the front bumper. Probably drivers side usually on the support for the radiator. It's black plastic might look similar to a plastic bolt. You will have to get one from a junkyard I don't think any of the part stores carry them. I got mine of a F-250,but I think that ford used the same sensor on most of their vehicles. no guarantees
