Instead of starting a new post I'll revive a "slightly" old one.

I just got my 6.0 SD about three weeks ago, and the mileage is nothing to write home about. Last highway trip (about 160 miles round trip, on flat, hey it's North Dakota!) I averaged (by hand and the lie-o-meter were within .2) about 12.5 mpg. I hope that I can attribute that to the winter fuel, even though I put #2 in it.

Around town the truck is (pure lie-o-meter here) struggling to get to 10 mpg , but that probably due to the madatory warm up times. It was -22 one mourning last week, and below zero for the rest of the mournings that week.

Hopefully come summer I'll see a very noticable improvement .

Any thoughts or do I just need to wait for summer?

Keep your RPMs under 2 grand to maximize your fuel milage.

I've got an 03 F250 with the 6.0 and I'm getting 15.0 to 15.1 depending on load and the pressure I put on the long skinny pedal.

Yep, 14-16 is about right in the summer. I have only seen above 16 once and that is with mods. Stock I believe I averaged 14.5-15.

oh yeah, I live in Michigan, in the winter i get 14 on avg because of warm-up idle. Once spring comes when i don't use the heat or AC, i consistanly 16 -17 driving the same route to work, and have seen 18+ on the highway couple of times keeping it under 70 mph, and with no head wind

I just finished a 3 tank monitor on my '03 Excursion with the 6.0PSD:

126.8 gallons of fuel
2,533 miles (about 75 to 80% at 70mph highway)
3F average morning temp
18F average daytime temp

19.97mpg average

This is with no towing, gentle driving, and 'gettin on er' up each freeway onramp to clean it out a bit.

Oh, I forgot to mention that mine's bone stock....except for the c-beder's.

I have noticed that I was getting 14 mpg when I bought the truck last year. Over the past 30K+ miles, it's crept up to 15 mpg.
