Took my 03 450 to Ford today got the sensor changed mine was leaking it just started less than 2 weeks ago. I think I caught it in time because the oil leak wasn't that bad it was dripping a little bit it wasn't puddling under the truck. I also wasn't getting and CEL but I was getting some long cranking to start.
I got back to Ford prepared to get screwed I thought oh boy this bill is gonna hurt. Service counter guy said 112 dollars please I said what
I asked its still covers under warrenty the guy said just barely
My trucks is right on the year mark but I only have 74,300kms (46,170 miles) on the ODO.
The first thing I noticed was it seemed like I got more power and the engine runs smoother.
When I phoned Ford I said I need the ICP replaced he said is it leaking.
They put some dye in the oil and they traced it too the ICP. The only reason why I knew it was the ICP was searching the net.
I wasn't going to try change the ICP myself being a 03 and its a SOB to change.
Now with this dye they added to the oil does it do any harm to the oil do I need to change the oil. The oil in the engine now is only 1000kms old.
No codes I didn't let the oil leak get too far to the point it started messing with the wiring. I'am fussy about maintenance so I'am always looking for leaks and under body inspections checking springs etc. Just a force of habit I'am used to working on commercial trucks my 450 is a light commercial
That is good to know about the dye in the engine oil.
