I have read past articles that reference a 460 build up in SuperFord, but I can't seem to find the issue. What month and year did the article come out? Now that SuperFord is discontinued, how can I get a copy of this issue?
Thanks
Todd
LAST EDITED ON 30-Sep-00 AT 08:22 AM (EST)[p]the august edition of Car Craft had a build up of what they called a Smogger engine. It made 491 ft-lbs.@3400RPM(maybe lower RPM becuase the dyno couldn't hold it back)and 433HP@5200RPM ON cheap 87 octane gas
Here are the specs to that engine.
ford 460 block (stock bore)
8.82:1 compression
2" od/3.5" primary headers
35* of full advance timing
Dove-C non cj/scj heads with 2.08/1.65 valves
roller rockers/stifer valve springs.
Cam shaft with .050 lift 220/228* duration
.545/.545 lift
110* lobe center
850 CFM carb on a performer RPM intake
emagine if the compression was bumped a point and a stealth intake we used along with 92 octane gas it should make 1hp per cube
83' Ford Bronco, 6" of lift, 35x12.5x15" thornbirds, and a 230HP I6
84' Ford Bronco 2" DROPPED custom 2X4, Soon to be 460/500hp.
That EFI460 build-up is in the October 1997 issue of Super Ford. The article was entitled:"High Torque 460".I think it was on pages 104-107. I wish Super Ford Magazine were still around.
I often make references to a Super Ford 460 buildup that we used as a model for the 460 in my father's '56 f100. I remember all the details of the engine, what do you need to know?
