Where is ECU box located?
I haven't been able to find where the ECU box is located on my Dad's van. He want's to know how easy it will be to put a chip in it and take the chip back out when he don't need it. I could tell him if I knew where the box was. Does anyone know where it is? He has a 1998 E350 Club Wagon with V10. (i assume it will be the same for a 350 as a 150) Thanks for any help! Benjamin

Would it be a small metal box about 3in. X 4in. X 1in. thick? With a bunch of wires pluged into the end of it? (the wires are in a flat connector) The box has written on the side as follows: F8UF-9C734-AC and Econoline is written under that. Thanks. Benjamin

That sounds small for the box. However, that is a ECU calibration code. The specific code you need would be 3 letters followed by one number. However, with what you gave, I can tell you that the ECU code is part of the YMC family (YMC1, YMC2, YMC3, etc.). There aren't any 4 bank codes for the YMC family so I would need the specific code (1, 2, 3...) to make a Diablo or Superchip for it.

There is a code on the drivers side door post between the hinges that says WOM2 could this be the code? Thanks. Benjamin

Yes, WOM2 is the code. Funny though, our cross reference shows the calibration code for WOM2 as "F8UF-AAC 8-96E-R10"

Where is ECU box located?
The box is actually 3X3X4. I had to get a mirror in there to see the rest of it. Using the mirror I couldn't see anywhere where a chip might plug in. Does the chip go inside the box? also could someone post a picture of the connector on the chip please. If you could I would know what to look for. There is a power distribution box on the drivers side right in front of the headlight, could it plug into this somewhere? Thanks for the help. Benjamin

You aren't going to be able to see where the chip plugs in while the box is still in the van. There should be wiring harness clamped to the box on the engine compartment side of the box. The opposite end of the box has a small access cover that gets removed and you plug the chip in there. No need to look further for codes, WOM2 is it.

There is nowhere to plug a chip into that box unless it is into a 5/8s inch round hole! The box is right under the power distribution box, could I be on the wrong box? I don't see anything else in there that looks like an ECU. Thanks. Benjamin

That's not the box. The box sticks out of the firewall (just barely). It is rectangular, about 3-4 inches by about 8 inchdes. It has a large wiring harness plugged into the middle of it and the plug is held in place with a 10 mm bolt. Question... why are you taking the box? There's no need to until its time to install the chip. We send full instructions with the chip, including an illustration of the location from a Ford shop manual.
