I have a early 99 F-350 CC 4X4 auto. Well this is how it all started the 4X4 light would come on shortly after driving the truck. The problem was there was no four wheel drive, even when I locked the hubs. So I started reading posts on the ESOF problems.
I checked all the relays, fuses, switch all the way to the transfer case. I'm not getting any power to the transfer case motor. I pulled the motor and hooked 12V to it and it works fines. Transfer case seems to shift fine and the hubs work manually I'm not worried about the auto hubs at this time.
After doing the research on this site about these problems I'm starting to lean towards the GEM. Can anyone help me and tell me if it is the GEM? The other problems that I'm having are the dome lights have a mind of their own. The compass goes on a off, stays on most times. Occasionally I'll loose speedo and tach. And every now and then the wipers do their own thing too. Also I noticed that something is drawing down the batteries. I pulled the fuse to the GEM to reset it and this is when the wipers start going crazy and the dome lights and still no power to the transfer case. If it is the GEM can I order it from anyone other than the dealer? Its a 99 F-350, 4X4, auto. I'm really in a bind, my 95 had a fuel line rupture yesterday.
Has it been raining there lately? Others have had similar issues when water leaks from windshield onto the back of the fuse panel and creating all kinds of problems.
Yep I've checked the relays, even switched em with the trailer towing relays that I know work. Haven't had any rain the truck is actually in a garage started noticing the symptoms late last fall and put the truck away. Haven't had time till now to look at it.
