Just looking around under the driver side dashboard, I found this strange, blue device.
It seems like there used to be something attached to the wiring harness. The blue barrel looking thing has some sort of an adjuster on its side where I can insert a philipps screw driver to turn it.
Sorry about the quality of the pictures, I didn't have my real camera on me, only cell phone camera.
I hope someone knows what that is. How long have you had the truck. I have never seen anything like that before. Is it a relay possiby for a large audio system? Are you the orginal owner?

I just bought it on the 17th of this month. I was thinking about audio too, but not sure.
I hope someone in here can identify this, until then, it's my flux capicitor.
That is the expimental, hi fuel mileage device - expect to see 2 guys in dark colored suits show up... when they leave it will be gone and this will post (and images) will misteriously disappear. No one will remember anything about it.
Just kidding...
I have no clue, but you have gotten my attention and no I'm courious about it.
Cut the tie and see if it has any words stamped on the back of the unit. It might tell you the manufacture of if your lucky what it is. At least you could google it then. It looks like some kind of glass break or motion sensor for a car alarm. But usually those have to be mounted sturdy and level.
We had a dealership that when they sold vehicles they installed an aftermarket alarm system. The alarm system was passive...meaning they tied the ignition into some other feature like you needed to turn on the drivers side blinker BEFORE turning the key or the ignition wouldn't start.
There was ALSO a switch to DISABLE that feature (they called it a valet switch) that they hid inside the car someplace that you could press to disable the need to engage the blinker to start the car...I wonder if this is something similar?
Just a WAG on my part...based on something similar on one of my vehicles in the past...did you try and push the red button to see if the vehicle wouldn't start and then repush it to see if it would?...
First off, what kind of engine do you have/ what year is it?
I'm going to go out 100% on a limb here knowing nothing about your truck, but my guess is that its a diesel truck. The only reason I'm guessing that is because I have a feeling that this is an adjustable turbo cool down timer. (further risking embarrassment if I'm wrong), I would bet that it is either deactivated or that it is turned down to 0 min.
