I see and hear about many who raise their 4x for off-roading ... I want to "LOWER" my 1986 f250 ... I like the 4x for handling on ice and snow and I want to lower the CG as a handling improvement ... Any ideas?
I also want to do it because I have never seen one before ...
Yeah, this is the OFFROAD and 4x4 forum. I think you might get some more help in the specific forum for your truck. Spring under and/or notched frame in the rear if you want to slam it. But like I said, you won't find much help in this particular forum.
ok this i know somthing about. The front you can get lowered i beams at summit racing equipment. At djm suspension u can get a rear flip kit the stance will be 5" rear and 3" front that handles very well.Only cuz thats what i have on my other truck.C nothcing the frame is another option with airbages. but for handeling and drivability id go with the 3in front and 5 in rear thats just me tho i have pics if ud like to see
Wait i cant even make a "stacked blocks" joke for this one...uhm start plasma torching your springs and see what happens. If it hasnt been done before someone has to go first and make all the stupid mistakes, just think once you get it right you can be the one everyone brings their dumb questions to!
PS. Ask in your trucks specfic forum (1980-86 F series) and get info and a base plan THEN come back for help with 4x4 specific questions.

Might be confusing the 4x4 with a 4x2. Find some dropped beams for a TTB front axle with axle shafts inside migt be difficult to find. Matter of fact it is impossible. To have an offset beam with an axle inside will never be accomplished.
Anyway the front differential will never clear the crossmember if the front axle could get any closer to the frame.
The axle is only a few inches away from the bumpstops anyway, and lowering the truck would be difficult. The rear is easy to do, but even a TTB, or solid axle is gonna be really really tough.

I'm sure you could do it. Just think of it as reverse portals! upside down mog axles!!
Yeah Paul, you are right man, something creative like that could be done, but the portal has a planetary at the end and it is designed to be a reduction box, so some big gear changes would have to be made, but I like the creativity.
