Do you think the 370 would make a good pulling motor for a 4x4 then if it really is that torquy?? Just curious? I know where there is one sitting untouched right now.

Sure. Displacement-wise, they are very torquey for the size. It would be an alright low-end motor... but you'd prob. have to rebuild it, and with the money you'd spend on that you'd be better off rebuilding a 460.. just my opinions...
Have fun!

Since you think there is such a thing as a 385 cubic inch engine in the 385 series, I was making a joke when I said good luck finding a 335 cubic inch engine from the 335 series. Also, around here it's pretty difficult to find any 351c's. Not everybody is lucky enough to live in Australia.
Hi,
No offence but I don't know that there is a 385 ci engine in the 385 series, I just said that the title of this forum is "385 Series - 370/385/429/460 Big Blocks" indicating to me that there are 4 motors in this series, a 370ci, a 385ci, a 429 and a 460ci. I know of the 429 and 460 and I assumed that there are probably 370's and 385's I have never heard of. By the way while we are lucky to have huge numbers of 351C's in Australia, almost every other type of V8 Ford is unheard of - but I guess that's the price you pay.
To be honest with all of you, I myself have never heard of the 385. I have heard of the other three. I personally think that the 385 was probably a prototype of some sort which Ford modified to get the current motors that are in the 385 family.

Just as a note, as far as the 335 series goes, I've never hear of a 335 c.i. motor ever!
