Install Trailer Braking System?

I'm sure someone here has done this. Anyone have any tips or are detailed instructions available online?

I found this thread in this very forum through google. I don't know why it didn't come up when I searched here first, I hate forum search engines. This should tell us everything we need to know, looks really simple-

Just plug in the correct Ford specific pigtail into the harness under the dash, plug the other end into the brake controller, and there you have it!

What you say is true I believe if the trailer tow package option is installed on wreakhavoc's X. If the option package is not installed, I don't believe the factory harness plug is under the dash. Not sure.

I'm not 100% sure on this, so don't quote me (heh heh heh...sorry, just a little forum humor), but I do believe all Excursions have the harness under the dash.

There are quite a few threads on this subject already. A quick search will bring up quite a bit of reading on the Prodigy units.

Andrew (Aklim) took this picture for me back when I was having trouble locating my harness plug.

Find that plug and you're golden.

Stewart

PS - The brown plug is the pigtail from the braking control unit. The gray plug is the OEM harness under the dash.

Mine has the tow package. I have not looked under the dash yet.
