Hey everyone,
Great site, I have been looking on here the past week because I just bought a 2000 XLT with 100,000 miles on it for a really good price. The transmission was just replaced and I saw the paperwork, truck is in excellent shape, except for one thingy....
I have a code for a misfiring cylinder, I though it was #1 but upon searching posts I realized that a P0306 means the 6th cylinder. So either I read the code wrong or read the comments off the OBDII wrong.
So anyhow, does this have to be replaced immediately? The truck is a bit sluggish and at idle the tach bounces a bit but do I have to take care of it right away or can it wait for the weekend?
Thanks in advance and again, great site you all have here!
It's not the worst that can happen, but you'll have to deal with potential stalls and a rough ride - I would keep the driving to a minimum. FYI, you can change it fairly quickly during the week: in about 10-15 minutes.
Change it, your truck will like you better . 2nd cylinder back on the drivers side, most likely the COP but unless you know the plug is in good shape change it also. I highly reccomend using only Motorcraft plugs in your truck. Good Luck.
If that cylinder is misfiring it may be dumping extra fuel into your converters and that is not a good thing. I would minimize driving it until you can change it.
