Overdrive questions
I have read many posts about drivers leaving their expeditions in overdrive all the time (except towing in some cases), but when my Expy is in overdrive, especially in-town, stop and go driving, it is very sluggish. It FEELS like when you drive a stick and you're in 5th and need to downshift...it doesn't feel like the transmission, it just feels like there is some type of compression issue or something. It's hard to describe, has anyone experienced this? I even leave it in drive on the highway, cause it just chugs along in overdrive...I even seem to get better mpg in drive...

2000 Expy, 4.6 L, auto, 133 k Miles, runs great other than that. No other vibrations or hesitations. I have not changed the fuel filter, and because the guage sticks at 1/4, I've run out more than once...so I should do that anyway. thanks for the fast reply!

What gears does it have? Do you have stock size tires? Sounds to me like either it's undergeared, or someone put on oversize tires and didn't compensate for them. What RPMs are you turning when you're running say 65 mph on the freeway in overdrive?
I do know that use of the overdrive switch will effect when the torque converter locks up, so maybe that's also part of what you're feeling in the difference.
