04's seem to have problems with the EGR's, which is why you should get an oasis report to see if the truck has had any prior problems

I didn't mention this earlier but check the build date...the later ones seem to be better.

my 03 has 135,000. With proper care you should get 300,000 plus! If it has made it to 60k with no major problems then it is a good one.
ooh, all of the 6.0's have ERG problems.

My 04 has 33K miles, which is not many miles. It was built in January. It has been a great truck. No hopups. 2 minor problems. I use a fuel additive every time I fill up and put in a half dose of Hot Shot's Secret at 30K for preventative possible problems with the injectors. Will do it again at 60K...Good Luck

early 04 here for me and nothing i would call a problem. bought the truck with 13k on it a year ago and now have 20k. egr replaced and turbo cleaned. other than that end links were also replaced. now for the driving part...i do drive this truck hard and have a couple mods done....wouldn't trade it for a newer one no matter how much someone wanted to give me.

but like it's already been said an oasis will tell you what you want to know before buying a used one.

I bought my '04 used with 54,000 miles. Engine build date 01/04. At around 59,000 the egr cooler went, turbo needed cleaning, oil cooler replaced, degauss bottle replaced and head gaskets replaced. It was ALL covered under warranty (thank you Ford!). I guess that's the chance you take when you purchase used. I would definitley purchase the exact same truck again but I would purchase gauges and a coolant bypass filter alot sooner. Take everyone elses advice... OASIS report
