To me, as well as some real experts, it looks like it started electrically. Normally an electric fire is caused by to much ampreage for the wire, and it not being protected. To much ampreage could be caused by just a loose conncetion, and trying to draw voltage accorss a single thread of wire instead of the whole conductor, ( and if you already know this, I apoligize ). That being said, I am going back in with a in line fuse.
Large lug toward center of motor Scott, the black with Red strip is the battery lead.
14 awg ( copper) wire will hold 20 amps, so, if you are useing that, you are beyond fine. as far as a fuse, you could use 1/8 amp and never have a problem. Would recomend under a 1.0 amp though.
Ok, so I attach the wire to my LED to the large post that has the green mark on it in this photo, correct?
You got it,I'll be doing the same this weekend.Radio shak didnt have the green led so I went with the larger red one.Just not sure of were I want it.One thing if you put it on the removable panel.Make sure to pick up some quick diconnect stab type connectors. For easy removal of cover ofcourse.
yep i did this today and now were having a 30* + drop in temp in wisconsin and got to see it light up... man i cant believe how much longer the light stays on than the regular WTS light but i will for sure go with what the led light says
