well best thing for me to do is probably just explain my project...
I have a '73 F250 Reg Cab Long Box 4x4 HighBoy Stepside 390 w/ 4 speed
and a '76 F150 Reg Cab LB 2wd 390 Auto
i and goin to redo the '73 first by pulling the cab and swapping the '76 Cab onto it, then followed with new paint, a flatbed, and C6 converstion....
my question is.....i want to retain the stock highboy ride or close too as i can, so where can i get some softer ridin' springs to retain this height?
i want to run 33x12.5's with tastefull clearance
First & foremost weclome to FTE; I recommend if others don't chime in to try and send a personal email to Tatonka04; he's doing something kinda similiar to your rebuild. I don't know how many post you need to do this but if you can't soon, an others don't reply; I'll call Tatonka04 to read your post.
Again Welcome.
Welcome aboard. I just saw the post. If I understand you correctly, you're just taking the 76 cab and putting it on the 73 frame, right? Well, the cabs are virtually the same, the only difference being where the rear cab mounts meet the frame. The ride height will be the same no matter what cab you put on there. As far as the springs go, there are alot of aftermarket companies that make the replacement springs as well as lifts with either springs or blocks, your preference. Also, there are some guys on here that have changed over to leafsprings from the newer superduties and say that the ride is even better. I haven't gotten that far into my project yet, I took and did a shackle flip on my 75 F250, haven't driven it yet with it done, so I don't know yet. One other thing, you should be able to put on 33's without any problems, stock, as long as the original springs aren't extremely worn. I've seen some guys trucks in the galleries with up to 37's on a stock highboy? Personally, I like a little gap in between the tire and the bottom of the fenderwell from a lift and not just cutting fenders, but that is just my humble opinion.
Hope this helps.
Chuck
