I need to replace the cab corners on my "56" project and I was wondering what the best method of measuring or marking the old corners for the cut. I know a lot of you have done this and really appreciate any advise.
Assuming you have pre-made replacement panels...
slide the new panel over the rusted corner and trace the outer edge of the new panel onto the truck body.
Take away the new panel and use the traced outline as a guide to determine how far you can cut away the rusted area.
Cut the rusted area out.
Slide the new replacement panel back over the cutout area and from the inside trace the edge of the cutout area onto the inside of the new panel.
Cut the new panel along the traced line.
Butt weld the new panel in place. Bondo, sand, prime, and paint.
I have bought new corners and there is not much rust on the passenger corner but the drivers side is rusted through in about a 1" wide strip. Thanks for all the advise guys. I will be looking for the pics Low54, I have been looking for pics of the process with no luck.

It may be chevy, but its the idea that counts...remember its good to have a flang tool for your replacement parts...if you didn't know that already. I didn't but wondered.
