Question scheduled maintenance

I work for UPS, and alot of my repairs are on a time basis. Sometimes the parts arent actually bad on the trucks, but have a limited life left in them. It is cheaper to replace the part now while in the shop, then out along the side of the road. Then you have packages that miss service and a ticked off supervisor.

My question, How long are the water pumps seeming to last on mod motors. my truck is a 98 with 170k miles. It has the stock waterpump stock idler pullies belt tensioner and belt. The belt is cracked slightly but well below the 12 cracks per inch replacement spec.

How long have your parts lasted???

I have 225,000 and still going strong. I put a stethocope on to try to hear if the bearings were sounding rough, but sounded normal to me. Does the waterpump have sealed bearings or are they always running in the coolant?

Really the only thing i've had issue-wise with this truck is the ignition system, and an alternator at about 200,000, and a battery. But otherwise everything else is showroom stock...

Same mileage here, original water pump.

i had power steer pump take a dump around 50k, i have checked all u-joints and no slop yet. had to replace upper and lower b.j's at about 140k no cracked cv shaft boots good clamps, i noticed a little noise on deceleration from the rear end, but thats to be expected. i have service it 3x since 30 thousand miles though could use a track loc rebuild kit, but i dont want to spend the time doing it. Hell, i still have the same air filter since 40k miles...

its a k&n though LOL
