I know they made a 383 back in 58-59-60.
I have never seen any print describing why 385 series engines are Called 385 series engines.

the reason i'm asking is the title of this page is 370/385/429/460.I have never heard/seen in any repair/performance manuals any mention of a 385ci. accept the stroke of a 460.Which came first the 429 or 460??
>then WHY is it called 385.And is there a 385ci motor??
It's just a FoMoCo engineering designation to identify the engine projects. The 351C/351M/400 is called the 335 series but it has nothing to do with the stroke of the engines. I don't believe there is a 385 CID motor.
