Shaky Transfer Case Shifter?
Shaky Transfer Case Shifter?
In my 1981 Bronco i can hear the Transfer case shifter vibrate, i have a New Process 208F tranfercase. The vibration isn't loud, when i grab the shifter the vibration mellows out but is still there. It does vibrate more when going up hills, but it doesn't sound like anything real bad i am just wondering if it is normal.

I had a problem with my t-case vibrating and making lots of noise. I assume you only have this problem when using 4x4?
I "fixed" my problem by not pulling the handle up so far. Just pushing the handle down a half-inch stoped all the noise and vibrations. Readjusting the linkage would probaly be a better solution, but alas I am lazy.

What transmission do you have? That kind of vibration is usually from a bad U-joint or a loose yoke nut, either at the rear axle pinion or the t-case output. The Haynes manual tells the proper torque for each.
