Someone may have contacted him outside of e-bay and bought them "off site". E-bay frowns on it but that way you can get around the fees. I imagine the fees would be pretty steep on an item priced that high.

That's a possibility, too, but I would think, if someone DID, they would keep the auction up, knowing that he's willing to at least spend that. Unless they offered $75,000 or so.

You have to remember, as Ross said, there's some flathead enthusiast out there, with 30 million in the bank, and by God, he's going to have Ardun heads!! What's $50K or even $100K to a multi-millionaire, when that's what he wants?? That's why we seen a $30,000 Mustang go for $175,000.....

Sure wish I were in those shoes...but, you have to be content with what you have. When I am done with MY truck, I know that it will all be done by ME! And believe it or not, that's worth ALL the Ardun heads in existence...it's the difference between "I spent 100 ours on the engine and tranny" over "I spent $100K for someone to do the heads"...

I'm content, hope you all are, too!

That doesn't mean I'd always like more, just that I can live with what I have. Just think, the #2 bidder, that doesn't get the heads, would be really p!$$t! "Geez, my $25 million didn't get them???".

If I were in this guy's situation I would put them on eBay with a $5 opening price, include my phone number in the description, and close the auction after 5 days no matter what. Anyone who really wants them would have my phone number, I'd save around 10% total eBay and PayPal fees (= $1,500 at the last bid price!), and have that $15k bid price as a negotiating tool for dealing with interested parties. The eBay fees for cancelling would be cheap compared to any other form of advertising.

You see a lot of stuff being sold for $2 with a $25 shipping price, when it's something that can be shipped for $2, just another way around eBay's fees.

How would you ship a set of ArDun's?? I think I'd rent a car and drive them there personally!
