I am working on a 1990 Ford F-250 with a 460 and C-6 trans. The engine is a fresh rebuild .030 over with TRW pop ups. They were advertised at 11.0:1 with early 70's (small chamber heads) The truck has the original 1990 heads with a good 3 angle valve job. The camshaft is a Motorsport performance cam meant for the EFI 460. as near as I can tell, the problem is in the computerized spark curve. Does anyone know of an ignition system that is compatible with the Ford fuel injection system but allows a modified spark curve? I really want to keep the fuel injection, but the spark knock is terrible. My only other alternative is to go to a carburetor and aftermarket distributor. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
You are going to have to get a custom program burned for your new combination. Try any of the mustang guys, they should be able to do it. I would say first try Johnson Motosports. Search the web for them, I thinks they are appreviated JMS on the site.
